Essential Towels:

Often the most basic items are the most useful, and we think you may use a towel more than anything else when you are taking your child to and from matches.

The amount of mud that kids can acquire to their clothes and body during Rugby is quite remarkable and you do not want it to be transferred on to the inside of your car.

Towels are great for protecting the upholstery of your car from from mud. If you could only take one thing to pick your child up from a session this would probably be your best bet.

Good options include quick drying travel towels which don’t take up much room in the bag, as well as bath towels if your child prefers a thicker fabric or requires a deeper clean!

Avoid using your best bathroom towels for this job!

Rugby sports tape:

It’s hard to appreciate the usefulness of sports tape until you actually need it.

This is likely to happen as your child’s rugby becomes more physical as their teenage years progress.

Players use it a lot to treat injuries and it makes a cheap addition to your day to day Rugby kit.

Tape is often used to provide support to joints and muscles, such as ankles, wrists, and fingers.

Players may tape their ankles to help prevent sprains or provide extra stability to a previously injured area.

Similarly, taping fingers or wrists can help support them during gameplay.

Tape can also be applied in a way that provides compression to reduce swelling in injured areas, helping players manage inflammation.

It is also a welcome comfort for players who have been overheated during training to take off some layers.

Q&A

Should I take a change of clothes to rugby games?

We would highly recommend taking a spare change of clothes to training and games as you can get very muddy and wet. Also, some clubs require the players to socialise with the other players after the games in the clubhouse, for this you will need to dress smart, sometimes even wearing a shirt and tie.

How will I be able to tell my child’s kit bag from the rest of the players’ bags?

A really good way of making sure you don’t mix up kit bags is to choose a different bag from the other players and/or put labels with your name on all of your items including your bag.

Can I use these items for other sports?

Absolutely! We have picked items that are versatile and can be used for other sports as well to make sure you are getting your money’s worth.
